I slept long and hard last night, though I'm still fairly sleepy. But it's Friday, so that makes everything easier.

Tonight I have a play date with Damon and S___ to hit an arcade, and then play S's PS2. I'm also hoping for dinner from Philly's Best, which means I should probably have a salad or something equally light for lunch.

So yesterday I applied for a new credit card. Here's my new scheme. Well, it's more of a hustle. As in pushing paper and digits around, but not in an illegal way. I applied for a new credit card with American Express (the one company I don't curently have!) and I applied with the hopes that I would get a big enough line of credit to transfer ALL three of my current credit card balances onto the one card. If that happens (which I think is somewhat likely, since I think my current income and credit history would qualify me for at least a $5,000 balance, and I have less than that in transfers....), then I'll cancel my Discover and Visa card (which is with an evil company), and then I'll have only 2 credit cards: USAA mastercard and an AmEx with a big ass balance. But the APR is lower, plus I think it'll be easier and more satisfying to write one big check per month versus 3 small ones. AND if this thing goes through in the next month, I'll take my pity check from Dubya and put it towards my debt. Once I pay down a large portion of things, I can also start saving so that I can possibly get my act together for surgery costs and get it done in the spring. Who knows -- AmEx might go ahead and give me an unbelievably high limit, and they signup bonus was 6 months 0% APR on new purchases, so I could make a downpayment to the surgeon this fall and......

Ni___ and I had a conversation last night about the whole tax cut check and how she's so opposed to the cut that she wants to just give the money to a charity, particularly one that is probably suffering under the federal government. I admired her commitment, and we also talked about ways to make it work in her advantage. She's planning on writing off her move to Denver and itemizing everything, so if she does make a donation, she can write that off too, which means she could be eligible next year for getting her own money back. My rational for cashing the check is that I'm using it to pay of the uber-high interest rates that credit card company spend millions of dollars to lobby Congress to pass. Yeah, I know it's not as cool as giving it to a social service agency that's non-faith-based and probably having funding cut, but what can I say. I have debt and I can use the cash. Especially if in the next 2 years I want to accomplish 2 things -- top surgery and a home recording studio. So maybe if I think of it as Dubya's paying for my trans surgery....hmmm....I should write him a thank-you note. I'm sure he would be thrilled to know where my money is going.

Today is Limenal's last day at work. The next posting will probably be from Vermont! Have a good last day of work!

Now I must go do Help Desk. And help people. Or at least try.

I'm in an abnormally good mood. But let's not question.
