Before I get to the poll questions, I should say I think I made a mistake. I should have been more explicit on the Bond question and reminded people that the song from "The Spy Who Loved Me" is Carly Simon's Nobody Does It Better. Feel free to go back and change your answers accordingly. For some reason, I'm having a hard time believing that Die Another Day is winning right now.

Now, some answers to the first batch of questions. I'm having fun answering these between doing the work that I, you know, get paid for.

1. What is the air-speed velocity of an unladen sparrow?

Is that the African or European variety?

2. Favourite Sheila E. B-Side?

Shortberry Strawcake. I should confess that the only Sheila E. album I have The Glamorous Life.

3. Why wasn't "View to a Kill" an option?

I could write an entry about how I have lots of music associations with my brother and some have survived but others leave a bad taste in my mouth and Duran Duran is one of those "bad" groups that I don't hate them, I just hate for the association, but the real answer is that I just forgot. Though I probably forgot because of the above reason.

4. what's your favorite dance move to perform and/or watch?

I love love love love love love b-boying. But, my answer would still be tango. And while I can't really tango any better than I can pop-lock or break, I will one day learn to tango -- it's an essential part of my lifetime to-do list and I hope to take classes in the near future.

5. If you could be famous for anything in the world, what would it be?

I don't want to be like one of those actors who paints, like someone who's famous for one thing but also tries to utilize the fame to market their work in another medium. So I think about whether I'd want to be a writer who does DJing as a hobby or a DJ/Producer who writes as a hobby. But then I think, why not both? How cool would it be to spin the tunes at my celebration party for winning a book award? Or maybe I'll just keep it separate and have a small following in two very different circles and not everyone will be the wiser.

6. Who's that eatin' that nasty fruit? Who's jammin' to my nasty groove?

I'd like to say me, but it's so obviously YOU, Vance.

7. What's your breakfast cereal of choice?

Right now I'm all about honey-nut "trader o's" which is basically Trader Joe's brand of Cheerios, with fresh blueberries. I also like the new berry blend of Cheerios. Other favorites include Alpha-bits and Basic 4, I think it's called? Some brand name cereal with different flakes and nuts and fruit that I only buy when it's on sale.

8. favorite mary j blige album?

Gotta go with "What's the 411?" -- I still put it in and give a listen every couple monthes.

9. Will you come to a fancy (possibly whorehouse) themed cocktail/housewarming party on the 20th?

I would love too! Thank you for the invitation.

Okay, [livejournal.com profile] dommeyourass asked a hard-ass question and then [livejournal.com profile] nineinchlovely followed with another one, so I will take a break here.

you did it again

both you and i answer [profile] keetbabe's question with answers about personal fame. that's from one of those glove compartment games.

remember when pussy answered something like "curing cancer" and we felt all shallow and shit.

only i can stop narcissism.

sure, i still feel all shallow on shit, but then again, i'm also not configuring my life in such away that my goal is to be famous. i guess when i hear that question, i think about being famous for something i already know how to do or that it at least seems possible for me to do. i can see myself getting a book published WAY before i can cure cancer or even be an international diplomat for peace or invent a way to feed the world. but hell, if we're going to answer the question with answers that are unrealistic, i want to be famous for being the second coming of christ. think of the influence! it would go on for millenia! the ultimate in fame and power.

I know that Carly sings the theme to The Spy Who Loved Me and Shirley Bassey sang Goldfinger, but I still pick For Your Eyes Only. Even if that means voting for Sheena Easton.

What about Live and Let Die?

I basically just picked my four favorite Bond songs and stuck them in the poll. I love For Your Eyes Only. It's a tie between that and Carly for my favorite. And I love that other people voted for that song too.

thanks for the response.
i'm definitely a fan of b-boys & b-girls make me swoon (there is a b-girl collective in Chapel Hill, NC that just rocks my world).
anyway, i suck at b-boying, and i only know how to pop-lock because of reruns of "What's Happenin'"

i like salsa dancing too.
especially when you can tell that both dancers are improvising...it's simply beautiful.

21 Questions

I felt smart for remembering Carly Simon sung the "The Spy Who Loved Me" theme... so smart that I forgot to pose a question.

If money weren't an issue, where would you live after this next year in Chicago was up?

Oh damn! I missed a best Bond movie song vote! I would have voted for Goldfinger; amazing Shirley Bassey (sp?) didn't pass out (or break a window) at the end of the song.

I would've voted for "You Only Live Twice" if it had been an option. I mean, my god. Nancy Sinatra.
