If I could, you know I would, just hold your hand and understand.

I found a costume. Or more of an outfit. It's not so much having a Halloween costume as it's dressing up as in a different style and assuming a different personality. It's just a costume, a disguise, and alternate personality, right? Not necessarily a name brand or specific person? But a way to be unrecognizable when the ghouls and goblins come to take you, a way to say "hey, I'm not that person". So whatever works, especially since most years I get some great ideas for costumes in theory and do nothing about it. Damon and I talked at lunch that we can't even remember what we did last year on this date. I don't think I've been to a Halloween party since the time I tagged along with Rockstar Friend because I had a crush on the woman throwing it (who, incidentally, was Chip Starlight's roommate at the time).

Any excuse for wearing a wig, I think.

Frankly, I'd almost just like to stay home and watch a "scary" movie (specifically the movie Audition), but I'm also in this zone of being highly susceptible to the power of suggestion. And have I mentioned the wig? I need to show it off.

Questions for you:

What else are people doing tonight?

Unrelated, why does kundalini yoga scare me? Am I just being nervous and close-minded?

What songs should I get for tomorrow night's show? Halloween/alien themed dance numbers work, or just new songs on the radio you like. I've already got Ministry's Everyday is Halloween and Kelis's Milkshake on the list.

Dead Can Dance - The Ubiquitous Mr Lovegrave
Nightmare Before Christmas soundrack - This is Halloween
Concrete Blonde - Bloodletting
David Bowie - Starman (for ambience)
Siouxsie and the Banshees - Face to Face

those are some suggestions...also, if the wig is the symbol of what I'm thinking of, tonight will be VERY interesting!!

no, it's a different wig! it's not what you're thinking....

I knew your goth expertise would come through for me. ;)

Come come come to [livejournal.com profile] herfierceness's party tonight!!! Please??!?

Yeah, OK. Audition is a seriously freaky movie. I don't know if I can say it scared me in a horror-movie, Halloween sense, but... yeah. ::shudder::

How 'bout some Britney for me? JUST KIDDING! Really. Um..... old school stuff for us old people, please!

[identity profile] raybear.livejournal.com 2003-10-31 12:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! Sparky and I are coming to Annie's later tonight. Probably around 11ish.

Oh, and I usually throw some Britney in. Those kids love "I'm a Slave 4 U".

tonight

i'm sure it's not a surprise but tonight i'm happily staying home, reading, cleaning and doing general organizing. i want to get my costume ready for tomorrow night, b/c i hope to go to the kings show. however money is so tight that i feel like i'm suffocating so the idea of spending $8 is not an easy one...

thriller is the only song i can think of...

i'm totally with you on that. last night (friday) i stayed in, did homework and crossword puzzles and had a generally relaxing time of it. sigh. it was great. i totally advocate staying in on nights when everyone is expected to go out. it makes it feel even more relaxing.

It's a long gothy song, but "This Corrosion" by Sisters of Mercy is dance-y and always reminds me of Halloween. "Stigmata" by Ministry has the same effect with me, I think.

If I think of any more, I'll let you know. Maybe some Gravediggaz? Heh.

That whole album is perfect. Heh.

"Lucretia, My Reflection" and "Dominion" are also good...but especially Lucretia. Both by Sisters of Mercy.

Dommeyourass did the EXACT same thing to me yesterday -- she called me at work and sang the song into the phone so I could do a search and download it! So I must give her credit to initially turning me onto the song.
