I have a very visceral and primal adoration for Yoko Ono. It's the only way I can explain it. It's immune to any criticism or jokes or ridicule. Today I was thinking about a conversation in college from some friend of a friend who wrote a paper on how Ono being forgotten in discussion of "kick-ass women in rock" is due to racism. I didn't disagree with his thesis, but I remember being quite shocked that he'd thought of it and was so committed to the issue -- he was the least likely candidate in my mind since in the same breath he'd probably say something ignorant about someone non-Yoko.

I had a dream with her in it earlier this year where she was my lover. As much as I think and read and talk about celebrities, they're rarely in my dreams.

Today I did some research on the planet/comet/asteroid Chiron. Astrologists are weird. I also bought a new cell phone (my current one is being held together by a rubber band) and pondered how I'd feel if my unabridged journals got published thirty years after I died. I guess I wouldn't feel anything because I'd be dead. And now it's time to go home.

Yoko rocks my world! But then, you might've figured as much being that I named my cat after her. The racism thesis sounds plausible - but I think it has as much to do with her being a better and more complicated artist than Lennon, and the pop world not knowing what to do with that or with her work.

I too love Yoko...her cut piece is so cool.

But I do agree that racism does play a part in Yoko-bashing...I mean I have heard "Dragon Lady" said numerous times in connection to her.

oh yoko

ok now, yoko....i have had many dreams about yoko and me, that's reality. like the time that i graduated form the art institute and she was a speaker at my ceremony. (so was bill viola but who cares). and i kinda shook the pres's hand and then made a bee line for yoko. and thanksed her profusely for coming and totally ignoring bill and the rest of the world. she smiled and held my sweaty hand and thanked me for having her. don't i wish. and in my reoccuring yoko dream...she whispers "if you're ever in new york...." but anyway, yoko handed out puzzle pieces to all graduates and we're all supposed to get together in 2007 and build the puzzle from our pieces. i'll be there. the dragon woman label was about john lennon and the beatles break up. they were all fucking jealous of yoko. strong, nurturing, the true artist of the two. the smartest thing john lennon ever did was hook up with yoko. oh man don't get me started about yoko....whooo wee. 70 somehing years old and hot hot hot. hold me back. turtle
