I said it in his journal, but I can't stop thinking about how brilliant and perfect this is. Okay, okay, the more I think about it, there's still some problems (using him to draw attention to their fundraiser event, anyone?), but I think I'm just so thrilled that watchdogs are realizing picketing doesn't really work. It doesn't educate anyone and doesn't even shame anyone into changing their mind, only causes people to dodge and backtrack to avoid the issue, or to get defensive and say things that are worse. At least in this case, their saying hey, he's not the only person in the world who thinks/feels this way, so let's TALK about it to do something about it. There are so many other things about this press release that intrigue me: the tone, the purpose, the circulation to hip hop outlets, the job title.
Or maybe I'm just so fcking sick of gay marriage articles it's extra refreshing to read something different.
I voted yesterday and you know how most people know all about the primaries and main elections, then they get to the pages on judges and go "huh?" Yesterday, I was the mofo who got into the booth knowing I would vote for Obama and the judges and I was looking at the other races going "who?" In the past four years, I've always taken the judges elections very seriously and bring cheat sheets into the booth with listings from the bar associations saying which candidates are qualified and recommended. But I forgot to look ito educate myself on the other races. Oops. Also, in the primary, I voted for Carol Mosley-Braun. Yeah, I know she dropped out of the race and she wasn't even necessarily who I truly wanted to be president, but 1) I wanted her to get some votes from her home state and 2) how many times in my life will I get to vote for an african-american woman on the ballot for president?!?
I don't have anything else exciting to report. Except I'm working in a snow globe. And I don't have much money. The downside of moving is that it's so damned expensive to pay what feels like double rent (because of the security deposit issue) for two months.

And the thing with 50 cent? I don't know why they waste their time. Hip Hop heroes are made in the minds of 15 year old boys and those with that mentality. Being anti-gay is at the heart of what it means to be a 15-year old boy. Even the gay ones sometimes. Mr. Cent is merely following the well-tread path of using homophobia as a career-tool. The fact that he is homophobic only gives versimilitude to an otherwise obvious move. Fuck him and the Eminem he rode in on.
