I am dangerously addicted to Olivia Newton John right now. I can blame Stephan, but assigning blame doesn't really help the matter. I'm starting to think it's like "The Ring" and if I make a copy of the "All Olivia" iTunes playlist and spread it to another, I'll be safe.

Today I woke up and decided it's my fake birthday. Or, as Sparky put it better, Observation of Raybear's Birthday. In honor of the occasion, I made myself bacon and eggs for breakfast. Then I watched Oprah because she had on Chris Rock and Jon Stewart and Maya Rudolph. That was very nice of her to air this episode in honor of my Observation Birthday.

There's a lot to do to prepare for the party this evening but I'm not letting myself freak out too much about it and will let Lowenstein handle the freaking out. Except I really don't think any feaking out is necessary because I have such an interesting and fabulous group of friends that putting them all together in my apartment with some beverages and music will always produce fun results. They won't really care if we hide a few boxes on the back porch or in the basement. Some people will unfortunately be missing the party, and I'm sure some people will suprise me by showing up, but it all balances out. Though I am a little nervous about upsetting the elderly woman who lives below us, especially since she just came home from the hospital. Eek.

Last night on the radio we heard Ice Cube's You Can Do It. It sounded so good, I dug out my best of CD and I'm listening to it right now. Remember when Ice Cube was a rapper? I mean, a good one? And what happened to Ms Toi? Did Lil Kim kick her ass for sounding like her?

Lowenstein commented on how happy and frisky I was this morning. And I'm still sort of wrestling inside about other parts of my life, but at least I appreciate the balance back in my life. Sadness and anxiety and self-esteem crises are much easier to handle in between periods of laughter and excitement and good sex.

Also, I'm making my spinach-artichoke dip so come early to the party if you want any. I can't promise I won't eat it all in the first hour while waiting for guests to arrive and stressing about childhood birthday parties where no one came because they were all on summer vacation. My, how things have changed.

oh, save me from the spinach artichoke dip, wait, no, just put it on the ground and let me lick out the mixing bowl you made it in, how's that?

I thought of an alternate reference to today:

i keep meaning to tell you: last year i gave the recipe for the spinach-artichoke dip to my friend emily, and in may i was staying with her and they were having a party and i said, "hey, i'll make the dip, hmm?" and her roommates were like, "OH MY GOD, YOU ARE THE PERSON WHO GAVE EMILY THE RECIPE FOR THE DIP? BEST DIP EVER." i tried to give you proper credit, but you know how those things go.

no worries -- i got the recipe from another friend, who may or may not be the inventor. conversion is way more important than credit in the spinach-artichoke cult.

Please spread me your itunes all olivia playlist????!!!!! Please please.
Even though I have pretty much all of her albums on vinyl, this sounds like a great idea. "my heart aint home anymore" is one of my favorite ONJ songs.
By the way happy birthday.

I would love to really, but I have to work. Depending on what time I finish, I may try to make it over.

Happy Birthday!

I am trying to come to your party, but that depends on my parents and my ability to convince them that I won't die on the skyway.

i fear this olivia thing may be infectious.

you talking about her all the time has got me rembering times during my childhood when i'd lay on the livingroom floor near the stereo and listen to my mother's copy of "let's get physical" over and over and over again, all the while studying every last inch of the record cover.

and now, i'm at this moment searching for a few olivia songs to add to my library.

I don't know if I can express to you how much I love ONJ. I have been wanting to throw a Xanadu party forever.

I would like a collection of mp3's. Please and thank you.
