Guests of Oprah stay at the luxurious Omni Hotel.

I wondered what a "boutique" room at a ritzy hotel is and I think now I know -- it means small. But still, there's a king-sized bed and a big tub and wireless internet. I'm very excited for my spontaneous micro-writer's retreat I decided to take tonight. The idea started from moments of overtired and frustrations and dramatic fears of lost sanity and then I calmed down. But it was too late -- my Priceline bid was accepted. So now, here I am, at the mercy of the fates, in a fluffy white bathrobe in a room on the 11th floor where I can peer into Gold Coast condos with the lights on in between sips of coffee, rewriting my story and finishing my work while pretending to be a grown-up. Unlike other writers in hotels, I elected to not get the key to the mini-bar. The coffee is free and more productive anyway.

Oooh, a dirty weekend with yourself!
That's hot.
And thanks for the idea.

(wonders if Bakers Square is in the area...)

What a great idea! Will have to tuck that one in my hat.

I won a free night at that hotel in the CLF Auction this past year - no weekend night stays, but if I don't come to Chicago soon and use it, perhaps we can work out a trade for your next retreat.
