I have big news: I'm clean shaven. I took off all my facial hair! Ok, it's really not that exciting. Especially since in three days I'll have my usual scruff again. It's just hard to compete with the announcement [livejournal.com profile] dommeyourass made about quitting her job. Seriously though, I'm very very happy for her.

I started to doze off, but then jerked myself awake and couldn't drift off again, so here I am, spending the midnight hour posting photos. Did you know we have a cat? Most people don't know about Liesl because she doesn't appear much in the house, except in the office, and since Sophie gets most of the attention. But she is very cute and is getting more and more bold at establishing dominance over Sophie. They only fight because they are twins. They are both princesses who want lots of attention and people food.

Actually, I think Sophie and Liesl sounds like a lesbian couple in WWII Germany.

Oh, I also uploaded a photo essay called Louche is ANGRY!. Click to see some photos of [livejournal.com profile] louche taken at the Speakeasy show and one she took of me.

Cute as hell.
Your icon is tres severe, though. You look like you're ordering me to the gas chamber.
Wow, so you've both quit?
I'm so jealous.

I think it's excting. I took the leap this week as well. I hadn't seen my chin in at least a year. It was a reunion of sorts.

I've decided I really hate it and kinda regret that it's not growing faster. My chin is too weak and seems to have disappeared without the shadow my goatee/scruff provides to my jawline.

Though texture-wise, I'm enjoy how my face feels to my hand.

Yes indeed there was a grief process for me embedded in the reunion. I reminded myself it was a good exercise in letting go and accepting the temporality of things. I didn't do it with a razor, just the lowest setting on the trimmer, as I thought perhaps the former would erupt some kind of dysphoric response. As hard as I tried to see my dyke face, the only thing that really looked like it did four years ago were my teeth. So I wrote an ode to the permanance of my mouth cavity. BTW, I don't know if I told you how amused I was by your obligatory chest comments. Fabulous.

yes, my friend, using the razor is a whole other level. i often will trim my facial hair down to match my buzzed head, sort of like what you did, with the lowest level of clippers. but completely clean shaven definitely brings dysphoria, partly of the gender variety, but mostly just the general "who's face is that?!".

one good thing about today, 36 hours after the fact, is that i can stand and examine the density of all my hair follicles and notice the exact pattern that determines the thickness of my beard. this helps make up for the anxiety.

oh, and i must credit [livejournal.com profile] trooper6 for the exact wording of the comment. but i'm glad you appreciate it as well!!
