It's been a busy weekend. On Friday I did some work up in Evanston. We went to Hyde Park for a long night of babysitting, that was really great, even if the babies were awake nearly the whole time and sometimes fussy. But I loved them even then. Sometimes my own patience astounds me or maybe I just don't take it personally with babies. Henry chilled out pretty quickly once we started walking around and I sang made-up songs to him.

Saturday morning, I bought a ladder and some doughnuts, then at 3:30 pm we started painting. In approximately 4 hours, we were done. It was pretty fun as well. Our patience got a little tried at points, but with some short breaks and good music, we pushed through. Also, DYA and I have matching expectations and perspectives on painting -- better to have it be 90% perfect and 10% cranky and 100% beautiful, instead of 98% percent perfect and 98% cranky and unable to even enjoy the 100% beautiful. In other words, there are some little spots along the ceiling and edges that aren't perfect lines. But luckily the people who painted before us did a sloppy job, so we actually improved on it, even in our low pressure housepainting stylings.

I added the pictures to the gallery here:

We love love love love love it and say it outloud nearly every time we see it. Later this week or weekend we're painting the middle room. And then I'm painting my office.

I don't usually speak for DYA, but I think I can say yes to being interested! You should e-mail us if you have specific times you need/want a sitter. We're pretty cheap sitters too -- just buying us dinner thrills us to no end.
Neither one of us is opposed to sitting solo either, especially for shorter periods of time -- these particular friends have twins, so having two pairs of hands is very helpful.
