a.k.a. random things in my brain today.

- A new transportation bill passed a few weeks ago that approved $231 million to build a bridge longer than the Golden Gate and taller than the Brooklyn Bridge. Where does the beautiful example of human engineering plan to go? It connects a tiny island in Alaska with 50 people to the closest inland town of 8,000 people. That's about $29,000 per person. Our tax dollars at work and thank g-d for Republicans being anti-big government and not wasting our money on federal....oh.

- The cost to manufacturing a regular car is EXACTLY the same as building an SUV. That $10,000-20,000 mark-up on the price tag? Pure profit into the pockets of the car industry.

- Flesh-eating maggots and blood-sucking leeches will now require FDA approval before being used by surgeons. What's that you say? You didn't know they were already being used? Wait, maybe I should wait and continue this one until after you've eaten a full meal.

- An american moving to Singapore got arrested for having 58 porn videos, one of them entitled 'Lord of the Strings'. I love that I know this because some reporter deemed it necessary to the news story. Remember that kid who got caned a like 10 years ago? Yeah, me neither. Well, only just barely. But if you google "singapore cane teenager", voila!

Okay, I should stop rambling about facts and IMing with cute boys and do something productive with my evening. Ooh, my cell phone is ringing. I have a new ring: Still D.R.E. and it makes me so happy to hear whenever it goes off.

i totally remember michael faye. i remember being a freshman in college and a bunch of us saying that we wanted to see his butt. :-)

i know there's a ton of markup on SUV's, but they do cost at least somewhat more to make than a regular car.

note that i'm not defending SUV's, or those who think that the need them when they don't, ... i'm just sayin.

pax...

i thought that too about SUVs, but i read an article recently that said, no, on average, the difference is negligible. i think the same article said that for all the reasons people give for SUVs (more cargo space, more passenger space, safer, able to make trips off-road), the minivan was actually number 1 in most all categories, not an SUV. i thought that was kinda funny, esp. given the minivan craze of the 80s. now i need to go back and find my source......
