Choking on that homegrown, they got that southern cooking.

I kinda want a halloween party to go to, with a partner in crime who's dressed as an employee of Brewster-Jennings and I'd dress up in a suit and crutches and circulate around the entire party, outing them.

Hi, please add "current events/national news geek" to my resume.

Not that I really feel like going out at all. Last night was the show and DJing so I didn't get home until 4:30 am. We had a huge leisurely brunch today. I just got done unloading 7 heavy bags of varieties of dirt (topsoil, garden soil, peat moss, compost manure) and I have no energy left to actually dig out the rest of the backyard and prep the flower beds for the spring. Plus the sun is going down and it's 5:30, wtf?

Mostly I just want to sit around the house and read and think. I feel like a lot has happened this week, externally and internally. But then I get exhausted by that, so instead the choice becomes, join DYA in the bedroom for a nap, or watch episodes of Battelstar Gallactica on the couch? These are the big questions in life to ponder.

Maybe someday soon I'll actually write something substantive here. Oh, here's something: I had a phone meeting with my mentor yesterday and part of her feedback to my chapter was, "wait, was Raymond actually in the military? You either did your research really well or fake it even better." A little from column A, a little from column B. This also gives me a little boost to keep writing. I'm in the middle, where I always struggle to maintain momentum. I can start a billion stories and novels in my head or scribbled in notebooks, but that's the easy part. I'll probably end up doing National Novel Writing Month by accident. It will be called "my master's degree final manuscript".

I've decided to do National Thesis Writing Month during NaNoWriMo. Any tips from your past NaNoWriMo experience?

never skip a day! it's easier to maintain forward momentum than start again, so even if you only write 500 words, at least write something!

Are you going to DJ my parents' wedding or not!

omg, yes.

yesterday was a phone-off day. i was going to call you back today while sneaking into a conference room at the library.

i don't think i've ever been booked so far in advance before.

starting working on your "definitely play" and "do not play" lists!

i would have gladly dressed as judith miller to your scooter for halloween, raybear. i would have been a raving b*tch and mis-spelled everyone's name in my notebook.
