Spoke to Melanie a few hours ago, but for some reason I'm feeling all giddy right now, belatedly. I've been missing her more the past few days, but not in a depressive anxiety way. In more of a pleasant sappy way. If that makes sense. Like yesterday I got a sandwich at Jimmy John's, and I was feeling all nostalgic, and then the radio started playing a song by Poe, who she likes a lot. I was tripping. I also realized today that I have not eaten sushi since she left, which is sort of weird for me since at one point I was eating 2-4 times a month. So now I feel compelled to intentionally not eat it until her return. So I'll be sushi-monogamous with her. I told her this -- and made some comment about how I'll eat it with other people when she's in town, but won't at all when's she's out of town. And she said, "oh so it's the OPPOSITE of the arrangement we have now." Oh you. She's so clever and funny.

Less than 3 weeks. Wow. Time goes so fast.

In other happy news, I was finally approved for my vacation time, which means I will be out of the office between 8/31 and 9/10. I went ahead and just took the Monday off, even though we're planning on flying back on Sunday, I need a post-vacation vacation day. Now I just need to find money for a plane ticket......

you will appreciate this. last night i had sushi, for really the first time ever. Sab has been plotting, ordering me increasingly rare and strange seafood dishes all over the place. last night she calls and says, "are you hungry?" yeah, i say. "good," she says. "don't eat, i'll be over soon." with sushi, she did NOT hasten to add. so we drank wine and i ate many strange japanese things whose names i can no longer remember, including tuna, which i liked (and had eaten only slightly cooked several times before) and yellowfin or yellowfish or yellowsomething, which i liked slightly less.

she CAN be taught, apparently.

congratulations!

welcome to my favorite genre of food ever. sushi is a weird thing that becomes quickly addictive. when I first had it, I liked it ok, but didn't think it was special or great. Now I crave it. for real. like chocolate or something.

Good thing Sab knows how you work and waited until you were super-hungry. :)

the song by poe was probably "hey pretty".
and nelly sounds like country grammar.

Check out Blu Cottrell's song "hit em up style". Just do.

Yes, the song indeed was "Hey Pretty", since that's the only Poe song they play on the radio.

And no, it was NOT "Country Grammar", which is actually the only Nelly song where he DOESN'T sing "oh-ohhhhhh". See also: E.I. See also: Ride Wit Me. See also: some Jagged Edge song remix where he appears. (The latter is the song I think was playing on the radio.)

And yes, I know the Oops song. In fact I scared my friends at The Closet on Saturday night when I started singing along.....

You need a livejournal, Sparky. :)
