I slept for 10 hours which was needed. I can't tell if I'm having bad allergies or a minor cold or both but I've felt like a varying range of crap all week, and yesterday was the absolute worst. I took more benadryl than usual and still was sneezing and inflamed, including my tongue, which of course freaked me out that I was having a severe allergic reaction that would result in my throat closing up. I have no idea what's triggering all this. I was afraid maybe I was allergic to the benadryl too and that was making it worse, but mostly I was just feeling stoned by the meds. I guess it's seasonal, but it seems a bit intense for that. Plus it rained yesterday and normally that helps alleviate the pollen, unless I'm allergic to mold or something else disgusting and alarming. I did buy a homeopathic nasal spray last night which seems to help out some and I've laid off the pills and actually my tongue probably swelled up because during a sneezing attack yesterday I bit it so hard that I literally saw flashes of light that were reminiscent of stars.

This talk of inflamed sinuses is boring, but unfortunately that is what has occupied most of my brain the past 72 hours+.

Most of today was spent watching a marathon of Project Runway: Season 2. I've decided that 6 episodes is that absolute maximum I can watch in a row before it starts to make me strung out and cranky. Watching 2 is better, maybe up to 4 if I'm feeling indulgent. Also, I must admit, I got a little inspired by it today, all that talk of following dreams. I'm a sucker.

So I'm going to a party tonight and the theme is "Tiny Party" because the apartment is small and I made cake batter and poured it into muffin tins, but only 1/4 full, so they are approximately half a cupcake, and then I used each half as a layer and put frosting in between and around, to make a dozen miniature layered cakes. I was pretty thrilled by my idea but the execution was tedious because I'm horribly bad at frosting cakes. My mother is excellent at it and I hope it was genetic, but alas, no, it was years of practice I'm sure. Plus, it was chocolate cake and white buttercream frosting so it showed holes more. But they taste good and they offer me motivation to leave the house and socialize though I worry after 20 minutes at the party I will be ready to leave. I guess that's what the bus pass is for.

Do you know about the crumb coat? We can have a practicum about this.

I'm sorry about your sinuses. Seems like this has happened a few times in the last several months. I hope you figure it out.

I couldn't wait -- I googled it. I think I might try it today with the other half of the cake batter I baked in a loaf pan last night. If that goes badly, then I'll request on-hand lessons as well. Thank you for the tip!!

Tis the season of allergies, if by season I mean "half of the year". It's something I've battled for most of post-puberty life (though there was a brief reprieve the first couple years I moved to Chicago and changed ecosystems). I think this recent bout of extra bad reactions on top of the 15 year on-again off-again battle has finally convinced me I need to start doing the daily (or twice daily) neti pot. I'm going shopping for one right now.

The snot pot is good stuff. Mine was recently broken, I should replace it. They have them at that awful hippie store on Ashland and Belmont across from the whole paycheck, if you're looking for a source. Pick me up a crystal if you go there.

I can give you some stinging nettle tincture too. I have shitloads of it that I made awhile ago.

hey you know... i'm sure you've heard that cutting out wheat and dairy from your diet could possibly take away all your allergic woes entirely. something to think about... just a little something.

also, i had fun dishing with you on the back porch. sorry about my fixation on the hairy man watching television. it's just that, he was a big hairy man! right in my line of vision! hairy hairy mannnn!

there's nothing wrong with a hairy man!!!!! yeah, it was good to see you last night too, with your lillet.

i definitely have pollen sensitivities though, but yeah, the dietary stuff is part of too, i'm sure. i'm very close to starting a food diary that includes all the details about the intenstinal results as well. i suspect i might have the wheat/gluten thing. also, DYA and i are going to embark on the master cleanse soon. i think after that when i'm slowly adding food back to my diet, i can really monitor my body's reaction to food.
