I'm at work and in-between somewhat maniacally checking CNN.com and Google news and Swingstateproject.com while also shoveling taco salad in my mouth. It's my equivalent of the World Series or Super Bowl. And much like those sports occasions, life on the planet won't change dramatically the day after. But in the moment, I'm completely enraptured and anxious.

I find the phrase "taco salad" ridiculous. But also yummy.

This morning I wasn't terribly prepared to vote in my usual fashion. I had the list of 'bad judges' written out messily on a post-it note, but then when I got to the booth it seemed to tedious, so I found the few judges I knew and voted 'yes' and voted everyone else 'no'. However, some of the judges were running unopposed and they were on the 'bad' list and I couldn't check 'no', I had to write in a vote for someone else. So I did. Specifically, I wrote in [livejournal.com profile] dommeyourass. In two different races.

oddly, that post makes me want to have an actual taco salad and also evokes lewd thoughts that center on the double entendre of taco and salad.
I am glad that you voted. I was surprised at the number of people I know who didn't vote today. Also, found myself surprised at the realization of how annoyed I am by non-voting types.

I just vote "no" on all judges. That makes my point. Also, it's now Even More Fun with the electronic voting.

If people don't have time to research judges, that's what I recommend, because it's remarkably hard to vote them out. But I do actually know of good ones out there, so I want to vote for them.

I utterly refuse to do electronic voting because of its constant utter failure to accurately report. I require the paper trail. I also refuse to show my ID to vote, I only show my voter registration card.

It's funny, I have somewhat cynical-realistic ideas of how much voting matters in changing systemic problems, but when I'm doing it, I have Extreme Ideas about how it should and shouldn't work.

I agree with your extreme ideas. I vote no on judges because I don't believe in the criminal legal system and it's the only way to dissent to it in the voting process, not because I didn't do research or I don't know about judges. I meet plenty of them in my work. Judges and referenda (which I tend to want to vote yes to) are the only places where you can vote no on anything, I exercise my franchise that way. If I could have voted no on governor, sheriff, and board treasurer, I certainly would have.

i went with paper too. and i followed your lead and wrote MYSELF in for the unopposed bad judges! it made me giggle. i wasn't expecting to giggle in the voting booth.

i was pissed that my "no" votes on the judges i hate would mean nothing, but it was finally balanced out when i got to vote "yes" for colleen sheehan last on the ballot. you know i love her.

i couldn't remember what colleen's last name was, so i voted 'yes' on both of them.

i figured writing you in would be a good way of introducing the energy of your future campaign into the universe. maybe i should start friends-locking all my lj posts with your name mentioned now....just in case.....

I'm reading this at 9 am but now I want a taco. (Just a taco, I don't need the salad. For now.)
