I'm eating stolen pears. The people who lived in the coachhouse moved a few months ago and seem to have neglected to have their address changed with the postal service, but also with random relatives who send them boxes of pears for the holidays. These are not Harry & David pears, these are Pittman & Davis pears, which are perhaps the Texan equivalent. They are still tasty. I feel mildly guilty for eating them. No, I feel mildly guilty that I didn't even let them sit in the vestibule for more than a couple hours before bringing them inside and deeming them "mine" (because they are already ripe). Though I resolve that if I am contacted about the lost gift, I will replace them.

I've been reading voraciously for the past week. Sometimes it just happens, a switch gets flipped and I'm consuming books at three or four times my usual pace. I wish I knew how it happened, only so I could make it flip when I wanted or needed.

I have to go swallow my giant antibiotic pill. I went to the doctor yesterday because I woke up feverish and I was moaning in pain every time I pissed yesterday morning, which was approximately 31 times in 3 hours. I generally hate the doctor, but I swear, sometimes the more 'personal' the problem, the better I do. I was so laidback and honest, I think the student-doctor was initially overwhelmed, then relieved. I kinda like student-doctors for this reason. I trust their skills, because 1) they just finished learning all this info and 2) they are trying really hard to do a good job because its all new. And the power thing seems more equal, because I'm more familiar with the condition of my body and they actually defer to me because they don't know any better (in a good way). My resident guy yesterday asked about my testosterone prescription in my file and I said, "oh yeah, I self-inject" and he exhaled and said, "oh good, I thought I was going to have to do that too." I almost stopped him to give him a lesson. So anyway, it was a bladder infection, not The Clap, as the pee cup test showed and now I'm taking big pills. Yesterday I did research on how this particular antibiotic works and it supresses folic acid, which human and bacterium cells need to live, but the bacteria die from the shortage first. This just made me paranoid that I would be folic acid deficient and I should take supplements after the antibiotics but then what if there are a few bacteria left and I am giving them extra sustenance to grow and multiply? These are the things I think when I spend too much time on the internet. Hence it being good to cut back on occasion and retreat to books.

I am jealous of your pears. Pear stealer!

What I did with pears a few weeks ago is I made steel-cut oats (yes) with vanilla rice milk instead of water. I then added nutmeg and sliced pears into it. So tasty!

There are a couple of natural ways to get rid of a bladder infection if you can catch them before you start running a fever. Ive had enough I can say that once you have had one you pretty much don't forget what it feels like.

Do not use both of these remidies because one counter acts the other. But, the also work as prevenatives. There is something in both of them that keeps the bacteria from sticking to the wall of the bladder as long as you don't use them both. They counteract each other if you use them both. Simply drinking a glass of Cranberry juice every day or a glass of baking soda water will do the trick. Ive been doing it now every day for the last 5 years and I haven't had a bladder infection since.

But, pick one or the other. I use baking soda water for heartburn. I don't get it often but when I do thats the only thing that helps. So knowing I will at some point be drinking that anyway I just go ahead and use the baking soda water. But, the cranberry juice tastes a bit better and works just as well.

Being a Reiki Master and having herbalist friends comes in real handy some days.

I actually almost beat it with cranberry juice and cranbery tablets and copious amounts of water -- it started last week, then went away for a couple days....but unfortunately came back with a vengenance. This is only the second one I've ever had, the last one was 5 years and came on really quickly too, with NO warning signs like even this time, so *knock on wood* I hopefully am not so predisposed to them!
