The opening kick of "The Roof is on Fire" sounds exactly the same as the kick throughout "The Hardest Button to Button". I mean, I know it's the most complicated pattern, it's been in a hundred songs. But still. I am amused.
I've had this copy job at the Northwestern libraries for two and a half years, which means I go up to Evanston about twice a month. Pretty much every other time, I stop by Howard's Books, this used bookstore on the corner of Foster and Maple, near the train station and also near one of the few blocks in the whole city that isn't permit-parking. I nearly always buy something. Today I am there, and after half an hour Howard says, 'did you used to shop at my other bookstore?' Turns out he used to own Booksellers Row in the Fine Arts building but it closed down 6 years ago. I did go in there once or twice, back when I worked downtown at Lambda. (But, um, I looked a lot different.) I find it pretty fcking funny that I've been in his store once a month for more than two years, and today he decides to chat me up because he thinks he remembers me from 6 years ago.
