I survived work yesterday, as well as therapy. Both as expected. Then I met up with the mysterious sweater monkey, aka Myles.
Unfortunately I had to bail on the movie because I knew I would fall asleep if I was sitting down in a dark theater. But we had a cool dinner and I had a great time talking to him. I always feel weird reporting back on my activities with fellow LJers, since I want to do them justice without sounding too contrived. I must say that I'm pleased he fell for my act -- this entire journal has been a fictionalized life so I could lure him into my clutches. Soon I will be departing for the airport where I will sneak onto his flight back east and stalk him all the way to New Haven. I hope his car has adequate trunk room. And would you mind punching some air holes for me in advance? Thanks.
Personally, I'm happy to have found such cool tranny and genderqueer folk in my life, even if many of them aren't in Chicago (Don't get me wrong -- I love the guys here too!! Hi Ry, Riley, and Alex!!). I sort of stayed away from any tranny support groups and events here in the city and on listervs since I got a little burned out with finding folks that I had nothing in common with, except for the possibility of taking hormones or whatever. I also like talking to people who aren't hardcore transsexuals ("I"m a man, I've always been a man, I'm becoming a man, man, man, male, male, blah blah") or harcore genderfucks ("hormones are the tool of the patriarchy! fuck the binary!"). Since I'm neither -- more of a pendulum swinging between the two, mostly hanging in the middle. And I like talking to folks who have been or are exploring all sides. And I like talking to folks who are wearing the exact same clothes as me, only in a different color scheme (I had dark jeans, light yellow-brown boots, and yellow shortsleeve button-up with a white undershirt....Myles was wearing khakis (methinks), a black shortsleeve button-up with a white undershirt....hmmm....), and who also understand the frustration of the inability to properly wear suspenders and such. So yeah, all of you LJers ears were probably burning last night as we talked of the various adventures online, but there were no bad things, of course.....even non-LJ comments got related back. Like when MelRo suddenly said "no wire hangers" and I immediately thought of Mr. Andrew Watchmaker. The madness never ends.
Tonight I'm going to see Final Fantasy with little buddy and Damon. And possibly a double feature of Moulin Rouge beforehand with MelRo, depending on how she's feeling. I forgot that I'm supposed to go to a venue with Li___ after work, which hopefully won't take too much time.
I went to bed pretty early last night (like immediately after Myles left around 10:45), but I still feel a bit groggy this morning. And I'm completely obsessed and engrossed with the latest Palahniuk book. Well, the latest (and last) one to me. It's actually his second book, called "Survivor". I will be very sad when I'm done and I'll have to wait a couple years for a new book. But I don't want to read this book slowly becuase it's so fascinating and I can't wait to find out what comes next. When I'm done, I'll probably finally read the Hubert Selby books that De__ leant to me like 6 months ago. Oops. I figure I've had them this long, I can't return them WITHOUT reading them.
Alright, enough rambling. Back to work. I was very productive when I first got in, and I can't start slipping.
P.S. ALEX: how was Madonna last night??

Date: 2001-08-29 02:10 pm (UTC)Gahhhh....i'm going NUTS! You would think one of the bonuses to being crazy is at least you can't go crazy...NO! Not true!
But, yeah dude, i loved your rendition of the hardcore transexuals and the hardcore genderqueers.....i almost snorted my coffee...but that would have been very very bad. It was funny nonetheless.
Wow. Okay, I'm *not* coherent. I'm stopping the madness.
