I am becoming an old man because for my early birthday gift to myself, instead of the Traveling Wilburys CD/DVD set, I bought myself a handheld cordless vacuum cleaner. And it excites me. It has been charging for the requisite 16 hours and I'm getting ready to use it soon. In the directions, I noticed a warning that said "do not look into the vacuum hose while unit is on as particles may cycle out unexpectedly, " etc. etc. but what I wanted it to say was "Do not look into the vacuum when on because it will SUCK YOUR EYE OUT!!" I should write instruction manuals.

[livejournal.com profile] dommeyourass has been getting up super early this week, with the alarm going off at 5 am. I keep sleeping usually until she kisses me goodbye, and then I drift in and out and finally tell myself, ok, get up, don't sleep the day away. Of course, I'm still waking up at 6:45 or 7. So yeah. This morning I communed with my plants, repotted all my tomatoes and added stakes and cages and whatnot, then watered everything in the yard, and when I came inside it was only 9 am.

Last week DYA bought the soundtrack for Godspell and I've been listening to it all morning while sorting laundry and eating breakfast and whatnot and I know every single word, every note, and I'm having that strange joy where you are so happy and also spontaneously breaking into tears at moments. I was in a production of this when I was a teenager and my best friend played Jesus and one of my formative adult mentor-friends directed it and I haven't heard this music in years -- there's all sorts of random memories being pulled up. Oh, Mercury in retrograde, you make our phones and computers explode and you make my Cancerian self go full throttle into all the parts of my past that inform and haunt me. It can be amazing and strange.

I've been getting into GoodReads, I think maybe [livejournal.com profile] sharkysmachine is right, it's the place to be. Fck myspace!

Our choreography was WAY better.

Though I like the spontaneous parking lot aspect of this performance.

He wasn't my best friend, but I had a major crush on him. And at the time he seemed a formative adult mentor, though not a friend, and in retrospect he was a humongous gaping asshole. I played David, at age 17. Sang myself into laryngitis because of it. Still have a videotape somewhere of a performance.

I want someone to sing "On the Willows" with...

um...i'm highly offended that there seems to be a sex spam post on the same entry mentioning godspell. ;)

i was listening to godspell all day yesterday too. i realized that becca and andy must think i've become born again as i was singing it at the top of my lungs and since almost all the lyrics, as you know, are from the gospel according to matthew, it's super biblical sounding. but oh so good!!! i immediately began weeping at the first bars of "by my side." kills me. in a good way.

then i followed it up with music man. and caring for my plants inside. i'm obviously joining you old man.

p.s. the new tree out front said, "don't forget me" this morning. ;)

haha, yes, I almost put in this post: From the "Our Neighbors Must Think Us Bizarre" Files -- listening to Godspell three times in a row and singing along every time.

i wonder who is not supposed to be forgetting the tree? us? or the city?

did you read the instructions left for us. WE are responsible for the new tree. we are supposed to water it a certain way at certain times.
