If clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice versa. If counterclockwise, your left brain is mostly in charge.
Most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise though you can try to focus and change the direction; see if you can do it.

I pretty much see it clockwise, though I was staring at it for awhile, looking away, staring, and it SWITCHED and freaked me out. Especially because the song "Isn't Life Strange?" was playing and the chorus is "Spin me round....I'm falling." I promise I'm not high. And I only had one manhattan, and that was two hours ago.
Now she's back to clockwise and I can't see it the other way at all.
Funny, in high school when I learned about brain halves, I used to wish I was left-handed because that would mean I'm right-brain leaning, but I guess I'm right brain leaning anyway.

Date: 2007-11-17 01:57 pm (UTC)i would guess that the animation is actually a two-dimensional image swinging back and forth like you said, but because our brain's nature of perceiving 3-dimensions, something about HOW make it 3 dimensional says something about how our brain works. in the article, they said "most people see it anti-clockwise" which i thought seemed anecdotally incorrect. but maybe on my blog, i tend to have creative and sensitive types reading, because of the nature of the medium. i'd like to post my quiz in a math blog and see the difference of readership. are there math blogs?

Date: 2007-11-18 09:43 pm (UTC)of cbihp, you sent me:
* pipe tobacco -- LOVE IT. i will be buying this when i get money.
* mr. hulot's holiday -- one i really wanted to try already, so i was super excited to get a sample. it wasn't what i expected, and i like it, but love it more when i put pipe tobacco on top of it!
* "burning leaves" and "fir tree". i like them both, they aren't terribly long lasting though. they are great combined. or with pipe tobacco. everything goes with pipe tobacco in my world
* wild hunt. i was not expecting my reaction to this. i'm not sure i would wear it as a cologne, but i am OBSESSED with smelling it. in the vial, on my skin. i like putting a little on my hand and smelling it over and over and over again, noticing the differences over time. it is sort perfectly the forest. it is perfect for inducing olfactory memories.
today i was reading about how he does custom made scents. oh man. it is on my list of dreams. also making me wish i had money. i'm trying to not let it get me down.
i visited luckyscent.com and ordered like 10 vials of other expensive colognes. i kinda wish i had instead bought 2 CBIHP's 2 ml absolutes though. maybe next paycheck.
have you ever smelled the cologne Cumming? the alan cumming vanity scent? i want to try it, because it was designed by christopher brosius.
damn you, pusher.
