I decided to listen to Rachel Maddow while eating lunch and putting away laundry, and got all excited to learn that Pat Buchanan was going to be her guest at the end of the show. But when it came time for the segment, I had to quit listening, he was upsetting the balance of acid in my stomach.

So, I had a conversation with my fellow board members last night about how I love watching the McLaughlin Group and yelling at the television, and three minutes ago I was contemplating the fact that I needed to make a post about my pathological television viewing habits and how much I enjoy them. Love that isht. CC told me that she used to watch the O'Reilley Factor--I'm not bad enough for that.

I think for me personally, its about frequency of exposure and keeping up with events. I've been on a quasi-news/politics hiatus for a month, which means I still probably have a vague idea of what's going on, but I'm not nearly as thoroughly up to date. When I'm constantly reading/listening to news, my tolerance goes up. I can even get through an entire Bush press conference! But right now, I don't have the stomach for it. I should have eased into it, not started right off with the hard stuff.

You can come over. I watch it on Sunday morning, along with Ebert and Roper, and occasionally other old people tv (Meet the Press and others, depending who is on)--if I haven't watched "Washington Week," I watch that--but Gwen Ifill is a joy, so that's not quite the same. CPH3 has almost (almost) stopped insisting on watching "Sunday Morning," but I can't guarantee that you won't be subjected to that. I recommend that you walk to my house in your pajamas and robe. You could also borrow a robe here--but proper clothing is a no-no. Yelling, however, is a must.
