I said you learn to trust a stranger.

On Friday night I got a little drunk at the work holiday party which resulted in doing the cha-cha slide with my co-workers. Ok, let's be real, I would have done that sober. Afterwards I stumbled over to Navy Pier, getting an eggnog latte on the way, and the cold and caffeine sharpened me up enough to watch I Am Legend at IMAX Broqued and DYA. We may have started an IMAX movie club, but it might just be a fluke that we've gone twice in two months. Depends on what comes out next month, I guess. The movie itself was enjoyable fluff. One part Children of Men lite, one part 28 Days Later lite. Of course, at the end I thought I was going to die of thirst. I love survivalist movies, but they always make me exceedingly thirsty/hungry/cold/etc. from overidentifying with the characters. I remember when I watched the movie Alive, I went to get water maybe 5 times and kept applying lip balm.
Saturday was a road trip to Chick-Fil-A, despite the snow, we all piled into a Volvo station wagon and drove to Racine and ate chicken and bought lots of clothes at Steve & Barry's, which is maybe the new Old Navy. I guess it depends on whether the clothes will hold up and then I can make this declaration with more confidence. Everything in the store was $8.98. Everything! I thought I would go crazy, but I was somewhat judicious in my purchases, partly because lots of things were just not quite exactly what I wanted. Even the shoes. I did come home with a brown pleather motorcycle jacket. That night the snow was really coming down, but Broqued and I braved it anyway to drink whisky. My original plan for our evening involved something a bit more ambitious, that might have led to alcohol poisoning, but this one was much better. I swear, by the time I walked home in the snow storm, I was near perfectly sober for bed. Being drunk makes walking in a snowstorm more festive anyway.
Last night I didn't sleep well at all, I think from soreness of my afternoon workout. I woke up at 5 am and took a salt bath, then stayed awake and spent the morning with DYA, even driving her to work. Went grocery shopping on the way home, then fell back asleep and woke up after noon, all super disoriented from vivid dreaming. Now I have to go to work and I'll have to process the phone conversation I had with my father later.
