Thank you for all the supportive and congratulatory comments about my Out magazine piece! Unfortunately, it still isn't on the stands at a lot of places. I haven't even seen it officially in print yet -- I went to a couple places in downtown Chicago and they didn't have the new issue.

I have this other thing I want to write about, but that will come later. In the meantime, let's cheat and do a meme!

Everyone has things they blog about. Everyone has things they don't blog about. Challenge me out of my comfort zone by telling me something I don't blog about, but you'd like to hear about, and I'll write a post about it. Maybe. I will at least address it in a sentence or two!

the magazine

I made a side-trip to Borders today, and was sad to see the magazine isn't out yet. All they had was the March issue.

As far as your meme goes, well... I don't know what I want to hear about -- I'm a bit braindead -- the baby kept me up until 3:30...

i don't know why i became so obsessed with finding this, but i finally located it about 3 hours ago at the Borders in of all places Evanston.

Nice work. Quite a few things made me cringe in the main article (because i have a non-erotic stick up my ass, probably) but I nodded along with what you had to say.

oh also

what did you think of the whole thing? because honestly i found it profoundly disturbing (but not necessarily in a bad way) to be sitting there reading about "frontal sex" and dick growth and the like.

i haven't seen it yet! i'm so anxious for the full piece. i've only heard ABOUT it, editorially speaking, and i was brought on board to supplement it.

i'll be in the lakeview area this weekend, hopefully i can finally find it then.

also, i think you're right, maybe Tilda is a trannyfag.

it's here: http://www.out.com/detail.asp?id=23533
and they allow comments on their articles--that could get interesting.

thanks for the advanced link! i don't love that its a profile of only young pretty white trannyfags, but then again its Out magazine, its baby steps in a way. or one small steps for transmen, one giant leap for biofag-kind or something. but overall, it didn't freak me out. execpt i did freak out when i saw that Cole guy. i feel like he's fcking everywhere. i was kinda like "of all the guys! in all the world! why him?.....again??"

I just bought it at the Michigan Ave. Borders (right after I got off the phone with you, even). Man, you know I love you if I went in that place for the first time in about 5 years!

Ha! I was at the State Street Borders yesterday and they didn't. And you know, I realized I held my breath almost the entire time I was there. I don't know why, maybe subconsciously I was afraid of breathing in the Borders chemicals.

1. I got out+bitch at the book store! yay
2. Spiritually do you feel the need to connect to others, or is it a solo thing?

My spiritual practice right now is very solo -- I've been meditating for even just 5 minutes almost every morning, reading dharma, creating personal rituals, etc. But I miss the community aspect of it. The temple I (and we) go to is great for a lot of things, including the group aspect, but I don't totally connect with the people there, which is probably why I go so sporadically. I miss the theological discussions I had in my spiritual experience growing up, actually, and I've recently been freaking out because I found a group of 'alums' from my church on Facebook just this past week, so I've been thinking about this topic.

I think I would say that my spiritual life has BEEN a solo thing for the past....10 years, but it might be moving towards a more social/community thing in the near future.

In such a faith that is very internal, how does the connection with others help further that?
It is always so interesting to me, because in theory paganism/witchery is about connecting with others and growing up in a pretty vibrant and supportive church community I have needed that but I have been finding myself quite distanced from other folks sharing my faith.
