I just rewatched the movie Labyrinth, which I picked up on a lark at the public library. I've only seen it once before, back when it first came out, and I'm pleased to say that my response as a 30 year old is exactly the same as when I was 10:

What the hell was that?

Also, its possible I will spend tonight dreaming of fondling David's polyester package.

I saw that on the 'big screen' during a film fest 2 years ago...

the close ups of those riding pants were enough to haunt my dreams for weeks.

Seriously. The first sexy sex feelings I can remember having for anyone were the fluttery, giggly and utterly serious ones I had for David Bowie after seeing Labyrinth for the first time. I knew I wanted to do something with/to him, but I wasn't quite certain what that was. It was specifically the line, "I ask for so little. Just fear me, love me, do as I say and I will be your slave." at the very end that I just did not know what to do with. That line still gives me chills as a grown ass 30 year old woman. Sigh.

No fucking clue on that movie, but I just woke up and the last dream I had was that I walked in on a support group meeting called Muumuus For Christ, so maybe we were dreaming in one accord.

Tonight I'm watching Lawrence of Arabia (again) and King of Kong (for the first time). I may be drunk.

I haven't seen it in a long time. I tend to lump Labyrinth in with Legend (the awful Tom Cruise fantasy complete with soundtrack by John Anderson). I know they're totally different but they came out around the same time and crack me up.

Muumuus for Christ.
Nice. Please describe if you don't mind.

Well, there was a hand lettered poster in bubble letters outside of the room, and it looked like the sort of "meeting room" that one finds in one of the older CPL libraries. And there were a lot of people sitting around in muumuus, and I couldn't really hear what they were saying, but I went in to the room and I got worried about if I was wearing a muumuu, and I couldn't look down, so I left because I didn't want to make anyone uncomfortable. But I was interested in the meeting, even though I don't feel all that strongly about muumuus or Christ. No one looked at me when I came in.

All the muumuus were elaborately patterned polyester.

I'm open to armchair psychological interpretation of this dream.

you just made me realize that those two films are different! I had also lumped them together in my head.

I had those two movies linked for a long time as well! And sadly, true-to-form with my childhood bad taste, I think I actually liked Legend better. (Of course that isn't saying too much, since I only watched both movies once and barely remember them.)

I love the part that you were worried if you were wearing a muumuu but couldn't look down to confirm. That is total dream-style plot function!

Yeah, that line at the end was BIZARRE. I found the whole possible romantic/sexual tension between David Bowie/teenage Jennifer Connelly to be highly disturbing and fascinating.

and by "BIZARRE", I do also mean "a little sexy", fyi.

I wore my kindergarten teacher in honor of this dream.

Usually when my dream has such a corny plot device, it is about something really obvious. This one, not so much.

I play a drinking game when watching that movie...take a drink (sip) whenever you see David Bowie's crotch. I think that movie help determine that I like men, with long hair, and large cocks.

OK...as a kinky goth girl...I also love Legend. Hell, I watched it yesterday. When I was little, it taught me there was purpose to evil. As a teenager, it gave me tragically dark things to say to others (Question why do you wear back so much? "Black as midnight, black as pitch, blacker than the blackest witch!!"), as an adult, I like human pony play, in part because I find Curry's demon character sexy. Perhaps more than you wanted to know...BUT I do not think it is bad-taste to appreciate the movie.

I certainly did not mean to insult anyone's favorite movie! My reference to "childhood bad taste" is more about my tendency to prefer the 'less critically acclaimed version' of two similar things -- for example, I preferred The Munsters over The Addams Family and I Dream of Jeanne over Bewitched.
