I present Why McCain's VP Pick is Pretty Brilliant (Remix): We're all talking the hell out of her, aren't we? Obama who? Hell, I bet the pregnant teenage daughter was a selling point.

In Other News, I'm not really sure why the spirit moved me this way, but yesterday while grocery shopping, I decided to buy a box of Pinwheels. I don't know if I like them. My father loved them and I was frightened and disgusted by them as a child, but I also hated most marshmallow things. Lately I've been craving these brownies that my mom used to make that involved putting a layer of mini-marshmallows on the top of the brownie batter, then drizzling chocolate over it and baking (this was the only form of marshmallows I loved). The pinwheels will probably pale in comparison to those homemade goodnesses. But I'm going to open them and eat them when I finish this novel draft. I'm very very close, but I needed an extra carrot to hang on the stick. Speaking of, time to get on that.

Mmmmmmm, you will be mine soon.

I'd have to say in the case of Sarah Palin that the old maxim "all press is good press" doesn't apply. I think we're all talking about her in the way we'd talk about someone bringing an oboe player to a Motorhead audition. It's early and my metaphors suck.

Given that we as a country voted in Dubya twice (voter fraud notwithstanding, the fact that was close enough to have it be manipulated), including Cheney whose daughter is a lesbian, while simultaneously rallying all the anti-gay folks to the polls.....given that we as a country overwhelmingly elected Bush and Dan Quayle to the white house in 1988 after Reagan was tarnished by Iran Contra......I just don't have your hope that all people will be voting logically and in their best interest, without some serious help and conversion. Which isn't happening, because the press if covering Palin, and not Obama.

Here's my metaphor: picking Sarah Palin was a desperate hail-mary pass by McCain (who wanted Lieberman as his pick, up until last Sunday, when repubs went crazy over having a pro-choice person on their ticket). And statistically, it probably won't be caught in the end-zone. But.....its still hanging in the air right now. I'm holding my breath.

I completely respect that opinion and you may very well be correct. I hope you're not for both our sakes but you may very well be.

I hope I'm wrong too, and I don't mean to be a cynic -- I'm trying to be a realist. I still think this is Obama's election to lose, but I definitely don't want that to happen! Which is partly why I'm not wanting to underestimate the shrewdness of the GOP and its followers.
