I watched Scrooged last night. I love that movie. I'm a sucker for most interpretations of a Christmas Carol, actually. Including cheesey Lifetime version's starring Susan Lucci, the Muppets version, and more traditional ones with George C. Scott or Patrick Stewart. But please avoid the VH1 version with Vanessa Williams. It was even painful for me.
But I love this movie, despite it's 80's-ness. I actually prefer Richard Donner 80's over John Hughes 80's. Donner did more offbeat yet middle of the road movies, like The Toy, Goonies, Superman II, and the classic Ladyhawke ("quick, Pierre, draw your sword!"). Anyway, Bill Murray is hilairous and there are lots of random funny lines and cameos and bit parts. Poor Karen Allen who hasn't had much work since then -- though she did play a possible lesbian fisher with Cherry Jones in The Perfect Storm. Which is a horrible movie, but I think it was lucrative, which is good for Cherry and Karen. ANYWAY. The point is, even though I've seen Scrooged dozens of time, I haven't watched it in it's entirety in a couple years, and I still managed to laugh and to get all misty-eyed at the end, despite any attempts by MelRo to be a ruiner.
In other news, my cough isn't as bad today. But I'm still sorta wiped out -- I get light-headed if I stand for too long, and hanging christmas lights last night nearly induced an asthma attack, and I don't even have asthma.
By the way, happy birthday
freakysparks!! I will be resting up so I can come by your celebration tonight! I may not have the energy for a full boot-licking scene, but I will definitely be quite capable of toasting to you.
I just found out that my boss and her partner exchanged rings and are planning a ceremony for next year. Aww. I also learned yesterday that my friend Me___ got engaged to her boyfriend and they're getting married next fall. Which wasn't a surprise, but still weird to think about. I e-mailed her yesterday because I hadn't spoken to her in about 9 months or so, and lost most of her contact information in my old e-mail account that got deleted, but I managed to find an old scrap of paper with her work e-mail address on it. She then made an appearance in my dream last night, which was scary and bizarre.
