So the vote is for the 9:15 pm show of Mean Girls at City North 14 (Western Ave, just south of Diversey, near the Target shopping center, in case you don't know.)

I will be arriving at the theater between 8:45 and 9. Because there are so many people possibly going, no waiting will occur, just look for each other in line or in the lobby or in the theater.

Questions or problems? Send me a text message, especially if it's after 5 pm.

There will be more Tuesday Night Move Clubs, I promise!
I moved, but I'm still fairly close to you, relatively speaking. You live near the Western blue line, right? I live near the Logan square blue line now. It's possibly we've ridden the train together and not known it!

Cool! Can't wait.
I live at 2100 N on Western just a few blocks north of the blue line. Although I think I would have noticed riding the train with you gorgeous!!!!!

i wanna be a part of the "more Tuesday Night Movie Clubs". next time. i never have anyone in my life that likes shelling out the in the movie theater money. speaking of which if you are a making stuff happens sort of guy (i am not) and you so happen to create any book/video/or random other thing clubs give a brother a heads up. i live for that.

You are now officially part of the Tuesday Night Movie Club. Well, maybe it will be official when you attend one. But you are officially invited. In theory it's every Tuesday, but I'm guess the reality will be once or twice a month.

Last night I went to a film noir movie club night. I loved it. We should start a writing group. Or a book group. No wait! I want to start a magazine article discussion group. Seriously. I'm getting all obsessed with magazines like new yorker and harper's and atlantic monthly and I want to talk about what I'm reading. So let's start a group where we exchange articles and discuss them the next month.

TINA FEY!!!! you should see it.

i already saw kill bill 2 on opening night, but i would maybe see it again for five bucks. also on tap are "Troy", which DYA and I are very excited about.

i think 5 dollar movies are better for blockbuster/genre films that could benefit from audience-participation.

hey, i'm not waiting on ANYONE. ;) there are too many people possibly coming or not coming to try and organize that. but i'll be on the look out for you.

i might be incognito on the train. ;) actually, you probably get to work on time, so we'll never see each other!

let's find a time to meet, plan a time that's convenient to us both, then maybe invite some other folks as well. but i don't want to try and plan it around too many people -- it gets messy. let's just be narcissistic and prioritize ourselves. and you have the crazy job schedule right now, so what nights/days work for you?

also, i'd love to read some of your writing, if you're interested in doing a critique swap or whatever.

Now that I don't trek out to Stepford anymore I'm actually early for work even. I usually leave home around 8 or so and get here around 8:30.

wow. see, you are on it. i knew you could make things happen. okay. the BEST evening would be tuesday. but i could also swing an 8pm thing on mondays or wednesdays. or i could swing something on a sunday, but people tend to bail out on plans made for sunday. any of those work?

hrm, i'm thinking now that going to another flick and then trying to meet up with everyone after may prove too complicated. besides El wants me to go see Young Adam w/ her tonight. may have to rejoin the club next week. i vote for Kill Bill or Godsend.

it's all about momentum. if i hadn't responded to this comment RIGHT away and made plans, i would forget about it until three months from now.

tuesday would work. maybe we could hook up in the early evening for our discussion group, and then depending on the week, go to Tuesday Night Movie Club. how does next Tuesday work? or is that too soon to find articles? what magazines do you like or already get? i'm trying to find people to swap with rather than having to subscribe to everything. i'm coveting smithsonian and the economist.

omg, i'm so hyper about this right now. too much caffeine. please excuse my thousand questions.

Next week might be "Troy". Although it might be too soon to opening weekend for that. I would do Godsend though.

Have fun watching a naked Ewan McGregor! I think you're getting the better deal tonight. ;)

that's a good idea. i love the economist but i don't have a subscription right now cuz it's so expensive but there's always ebay for that. i'm so glad you mentioned it. people make fun of me if they ever see an economist lying around. economist articles are the only thing my brother and i can discuss together. the new yorker is driving me crazy cuz it's too fricken much but if i focus on certain articles it would help me. i don't really subscribe to anything else that interesting but i'm open to most everything.

Date: 2004-05-11 02:35 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] raybear.livejournal.com
yeah, the new yorker is a little insane -- i'm still only halfway through the issue from two or three weeks ago. i just read the dorothea tanning article, so whichever one that is, the one BEFORE the iraqi prisoner photos. so having a reading buddy might be helpful for that. maybe we could also talk about the fiction, because i think some of it sucks but i don't have anyone to talk about it with. i used to read the Economist a couple years ago when someone in the office had a subscription, and now i want to get back into it. i wish we could split one and have every other week sent to our houses. i wish the same of the New Yorker too. every week is TOO much.

okay, how about next week we'll get together and just talk generally about what we've read and ideas and interest and whatnot? since we haven't hung out in awhile. than the next time we meet officially for the discussion group, and we can invite others if we want. miss rook (aka deirdra) is a big Economist fan too.

what time works for you on tuesday?

I also vote for Godsend over Troy, but goddamn if I go I'm going to have to talk someone into being my "I'm going to hide in your jacket" date. I'm a complete and total baby when it comes to scary movies...

got it. i'm writing it in my date book. this is the first time in my life that i have a date book that i'm actually using. we can figure out the wheres and time as we get closer to the end of the week.

Eh, naked Ewan MacGregor was far less exciting than he could and should have been. Pretty, but nothing approaching the titilation I'd been given to expect. Young Adam was still probably better as art, but in terms of overall enjoyment of the cinematic experience, Mean Girls definitely wins!

Anyway, after Pillow Book and Velvet Goldmine, is there really any mystery left to Ewan's shlong?

I am *totally* psyched for Troy! But $5 Tuesday after opening weekend scares me.
