I wrote for about an hour straight. I got a brainstorm for how to get closer to my four main characters and gave myself a writing assignment for each of them. I shut down all the e-mail windows and chat browsers to resist temptations, but I was listening to iTunes, my "smart" playlist I cleverly entitled 'Classical'. It worked well and after writing only 4 pages, I feel like I opened a window onto my stagnant project.

Right as a I finished saving my documents and got ready to get up from the computer, Olivia Newton John's "A Little More Love" came on. To which I said: ?????

C'mon iTunes, ONJ is more chamber than classical.

Ahh...ONJ...how much love.

Speaking of music...do you know any really good spanish language electronic dance music?

unfortunately, my knowledge is lacking in that area. one of my favorite recent dance singles from the spanish radio stations here in chicago was "You Promised Me/Tu Ma Promi" by InGrid. but i don't if other stuff by her is good. and i've heard some remixes of Celia Cruz songs that are good!

(i also love Juana Molina, but she's more "electronica" and not very dancey.)

Maybe you can help me out (perhaps we should talk on the phone).

I'm teaching a History of Electronic Dance Music class this summer, and I really want to make the class more international than it has been. I want to include Bangra and things that represent big movements from other countries. (I'm thinking Japan, Israel, Latin America)--but I don't know thier dance scenes.

I was wondering if you, as a gigging DJ, might have some info? I want the class to be more than the same old story.

hello.....I finally made it to France a week or so ago and things are going well. I would like to resume some writing projects as well but doesn't that seem so cliché...the writer in paris thing...between "Giovanni's Room" by whats-his-fag and "Me Talk Pretty One Day" by Sedaris, I'm afraid the genre is spent. Also, no internet connection at home yet, just at work.....and this French keyboard SUCKS! Everything is in the wrong place and the shift key is essential at unexpected moments.
Luv,
D.

I want to come visit you in France! I'm glad to read your updates.

You should write anyway. Don't write about France, write about Chicago.
