I'm waiting for the headlines tomorrow about him checking into rehab. Which is perfect for everyone who is afraid of actually challenging the status quo that produced this event -- they can distance themselves from his actions as an anomaly, a symptom of a substance abuse problem, and not, you know, representative of the complete saturation of systemic racism. wait, that was redundant. but, also, accurate, it feels at time. like, on TOP of the built in oppression of society, there's extra racism heaped upon it.
also, my friend vfc has a good point about the media covering this event as "upsetting minorities". cause only 'they' get bothered by such things. the subtle perpetuation of it all, even in the midst of events that are graphically break through the surface.
i just heard a news teaser that they are going to broadcast his apology at 11. That's kind of rich, eh? I wonder if he thinks sorry is enough to fix this. I am almost intrigued enough to watch, but I'm more curious to see if Jon Stewart will mention it. Oh yeah, and I also have a five page book review due tomorrow.
