Here are my old glasses:

New glasses, which are extremely similar to my old glasses, except the arms are metal:

New glasses with ambervision goggles on top:

(they look better with my bike helmet on!)
New prescription sunglasses, just picked up an hour ago:

(I didn't realize until after I uploaded how purple the tint seems in this picture. They are actually more blue. Also hilarious to me is my unconscious ability to make the exact same lopsided half-grin at all times.)
Sadly, it is a cloudy day in Chicago. I of course drove home in them anyway, to help with "glare". I intentionally got the tint fairly light, since I'm used to not wearing sunglasses, my eyes will appreciate any darkening, but also when I'm going in and out of places, I won't be as blind indoors so I don't have to constantly switch out. Don't worry, this doesn't mean I'll be wearing my prescription sunglasses to work. Although, those fluorescent lights can be rather harsh....
DYA left this morning to visit her brother in California for the weekend. I have big plans involving marathon writing sessions, finishing

Date: 2007-10-12 07:10 pm (UTC)30 Rock marathon is tough stuff. I recommend alternating with Friday Night Lights. I know, I'm always on about this show, but I freaking love it. Even though it just jumped the shark, the first season was great.

Date: 2007-10-12 09:04 pm (UTC)I'm on her insurance plan, because she's a county worker, and we get a discount on eyeglasses. And luckily the aviator frames are pretty cheap anyway. The total ended up being $105. Of course I'm nervous about spending so much money on sunglasses, since I tend to lose/break them, but I realized those things happen because I would take them off . I won't really be taking these off as much, since I would then be blind! Now I just need to make sure I'm in the habit of carrying my regular ones in a case in my bag.

Date: 2007-10-12 09:09 pm (UTC)don't worry, i will try FNL. but that's not what i have at home right now. also, 30 Rock is less stressful when not sober. i can watch 3 episodes in a row! its also good since i don't really want to spend 13 hours of my weekend watching tv, which is always a risk.

Date: 2007-10-12 09:14 pm (UTC)I had a moment of thinking aviators might be bad because they are too trendy, but then I thought, you know, they never really go away completely. It just vacillates between a few people wearing them and lots of people wearing them.

Date: 2007-10-13 12:07 pm (UTC)I love that show because how could the story (melodramatic, with extra-perceptive-adult-reflections of teenagers) of a town where what happens on a football field twelve times a year is the only hope that a boom and bust town in the bust end of things--well, that's good television.
Also, race, ability, class, gender issues. All there, and dealt with head on.
Also, I love football--but you don't have to to love the show!
Though, probably the first episode won't make you cry like it did for me.
